ILLINOIS: EMAIL YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE Dear Illinois Brady Campaign Member, With the deadline approaching for passage of bills in the Illinois House of Representatives, we are likely to see votes on important legislation to reduce gun violence. SB 1007, a bill to ban high capacity ammunition magazines, and HB 758, a bill to require a Brady background check on the sale of every handgun, are two bills that we expect to receive votes. The votes will be close and we need your help! EMAIL YOUR STATE REPRESENTATIVE TODAY! Last year, the Illinois State Senate passed SB 1007, to ban deadly ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 bullets. These are the same deadly ammunition magazines the NIU shooter purchased just 10 days before he killed and injured innocent people last February. If SB 1007 passes the State House we will be one step closer to enacting it into law. HB 758 will ensure that no one can buy a handgun without a Brady background check on every purchaser. Right now handguns are being sold through classified ads in newspapers and on the internet without Brady background checks on purchasers. Help us change this! Here is what you can do today:
